You can permanently delete your LitList account and all associated data directly from within the app at any time. No email required. No waiting period.
Deleting your account cannot be undone. All your books, reading history, journal entries, quotes, and stats will be permanently erased and cannot be recovered.
How to Delete Your Account In-App
Account deletion is built directly into LitList. Follow these steps:
What Gets Deleted
When you delete your account, the following data is permanently erased from our systems:
- Your account credentials (email address and authentication data)
- Your profile information (name, avatar, reading preferences)
- Your entire book library (all books, statuses, ratings, and spice ratings)
- All reading journal entries, session logs, and streak data
- All quotes and highlights you have saved
- Your reading goals, challenges, and stats
- All trope tags and content warnings you have added
- Your friends list and any buddy reads
- Any child profiles created under your account (Family Shelf)
- Your reading subscriptions tracker data
Account deletion takes effect immediately. There is no deactivation period or waiting time. Your data is not retained after deletion.
What Is Retained After Deletion
We retain the following limited data after account deletion, and only for the purposes described:
- Anonymised crash reports — Crash logs collected by Sentry before your deletion may be retained in anonymised form for up to 90 days for app stability purposes. These contain no personally identifiable information.
- Aggregated analytics — Any anonymised, non-identifiable usage statistics are retained. These cannot be linked back to you.
- Legal obligations — If we are required by law to retain certain information, we will do so only to the extent required and no longer.
Partial Data Deletion
At this time, LitList does not offer selective deletion of individual data types (for example, deleting only your journal entries while keeping your library). Your options are:
- Delete your entire account and all data using the steps above
- Manually remove individual books, journal entries, or quotes from within the app
- Contact us at the address below to request manual assistance with specific data removal
We plan to add granular data deletion options in a future update, allowing you to clear specific data types without deleting your full account.
